For spring break this year we decided to take a trip to California and visit my parents. It had been over a year since we had been back to Cali and it was definitely time to make it back there. Plus it had been a long time since we had seen my parents. The day before leaving I had to get a ton of work done around the house. There was laundry to be done, packing, cleaning, getting the car ready to go and taking care of my kiddos. It was a crazy day. I got up at 4:30 with Emmett and then went and exercised and then came back worked on my blog and then started getting stuff ready to leave the next day. I was exhausted by that evening. However, I got it all done and I was so ready to head out for our fun family trip.
Wyatt helped me clean the car matts! What a good helper! :-)
Our first stop was Utah. We got up at 5 Friday morning and went and grabbed donuts for the drive and then headed out. We were hoping that the boys would sleep in the car that morning but they decided that they were too excited to sleep so they just stayed awake and kept asking me questions and talking. Ethan and Wyatt always do a great job on long road trips. The last time we went on a road trip with Emmett however, was not such a great experience. We were super worried how this long drive ahead of us was going to go. Surprisingly Emmett handled it way better than we thought he would have. He didn't sleep very much but he was a lot happier than the last time we traveled far. Wyatt did awesome on the car ride with staying dry. Everytime he needed to go pee he would tell us and we would either stop on the side of the road or have him wait for a few minutes till we got to a gas station. He did AWESOME!! We were so surprised that he did so great for just sitting in a car all day. He didnt have one accident either days of our drive. So anyways, we made it to Utah right around lunch time and of coarse Wyatt fell asleep the last 15 or so minutes of our drive. So we stopped for lunch at IN-N-OUT and had to wake him up. The whole drive to Utah Wyatt kept asking when we were getting to Grandpa and GG's house. He was pretty upset that we were not going to be at their house until the next day. However, we had some fun stuff planned for our stay in Utah that day. We ate IN-N-OUT (which is always a high light) then met up with Hayley and Weston with their 2 boys Michael and Gabriel at the museums at Thanksgiving Point. The dinosaur museum was not all that exciting. We spent probably 30 minutes in there and then took off to the other museum. Luckily our museum passes from here in Fort Collins got us and my brother and his family in for free at both places. Made it totally worth it! The second museum that we went to was amazing. We played there for like 2 hours. The boys ran hard and were so sweaty by the time we had to leave. Emmett had taken one nap in the car and was exhausted but wouldn't give in and the boys were so tired that they just had to keep moving or they probably would have fallen asleep while standing! haha After playing hard we met up with David and Hayley at Texas Road house. It was so loud in the restaurant and we had so many people with us that Brandon and I really didn't get to talk with anyone. I was managing Emmett who was acting like a ravenous wolf with his food (not normal) and I barely had time to eat my dinner by the time everyone was ready to leave. Luckily David and Hayley had nothing going on the rest of the evening and were able to come to the hotel with us and talk with us for a while before saying our good byes. We said good bye to Weston and Hayley at the restaurant and gave hugs and then talked with David and Hayley for another 2 hours at the hotel. The boys finally conked after showing off their awesome super hero moves and all their dance moves and then we made them lay down and they finally zonked out. It was a long day and we had yet another long car ride to enjoy the next day.
The boys slept great! Wyatt stood up by the night stand at one point and just rested his elbow on the night stand. He was completely asleep! haha Brandon went and put him back in bed and he still had his hand up resting on his head while Brandon tucked him back in! haha Silly kid! Emmett woke up twice and that made for a long night. Then we got up early Saturday morning to grab some breakfast and head out. We were trying to be really quiet and let the boys sleep a little longer but Emmett woke up as soon as we were up moving around and then Ethan woke up.
Ethan was in charge of keeping Emmett happy while we packed up the stuff we had brought into the room with us.
Then Wyatt woke up! We asked the boys where we were going that day and they replied with "Grandpa and GG's!!" Yep, the pictures says it all!! They were soo excited!! No more tired eyes from them they were too excited to get back in the car and get to Grandpa and GG's house! haha
Yes, I know Brandon is blurry in this picture but wyatt is looking and he looks so funny!
Sure do love these boys!
What a cute family I have!!
On the road again!!
We hit the gas station for some drinks and then headed on our marry way to my parents house. The drive was longer than the first day and the boys actually took a pretty good nap that morning. Emmett still did pretty well for being in his car seat for so long. By the last hour and a half he was very done though. I don't blame him. Our roughly 9 hour drive had become 10 or 10 and a half because we decided to have lunch in Vegas and couldn't find any place to eat. We didn't really want fast food and my phone was not picking up any food places until it was too late. We ended up wasting about an hour with getting off on the strip and getting off again at the very last exit and driving around for a while trying to find places that were finally on my phone. We ended up just stopping at Jack in the Box because we were sick of trying to find somewhere to eat and we kept driving further away from the highway as we did so. So we settled for crappy food and then headed the rest of the way to Cali. Boy were we super glad to be out of the car and to my parents house finally.
