On Labor Day we got up and headed to the Windsor's Labor Day Parade.
We were going to be heading straight from the parade to a park called Gateway park that was in the mountains with the Ortiz's. So we packed up what we needed for the park and the parade and headed out.
Being goofy while waiting for the parade to start.
Emmetts "I am so cool pose" haha
The rest of the crew showed up just as the parade was starting.
Sheer joy! This kid is a candy fiend!! haha
The parade was pretty fun and they threw out tons of candy which the kids were excited about. Sadly, the parade ended before it was supposed to. Everything was going well and then all of a sudden it just stopped. Everyone was at a stand still and I (not thinking) said "some kid got hit" I was totally joking. I figured that wasn't possible with how slow the floats were going. However, I had been right. An 8 year old had fallen off and under a float and got ran over. Very sadly, the little one didn't make it. He died a little bit later that day. Our hearts all went out to that poor family who was just enjoying watching their kid be in the parade and then lost him. I can't imagine and don't want to imagine what that feels like. So after the sad ending to the parade we headed out to go to Gateway park.
We stopped and picked up some pizza for the kids to eat on the way their and sandwiches for Brandon and I. We made it to the park just in time. We were one of the last 3 cars to fit in the parking lot before they closed it.
Boys will be boys. haha I guess throwing rocks never grows out of them.
Even Emmett got brave and jumped in the water and swam to Daddy.
He didn't like it very much! haha He was crying because of how cold it was. haha I don't blame him. I did not have any desire to get in the water.
Wyatt got brave and did it too. He didn't make as much of a fuss about it. He told me it wasn't even that cold. I think he was just trying to show that he was tough. haha
Then it was Ethan's turn!
He didn't want to get the water anymore after he swam to Brandon. He thought it was too cold to be worth going back in.
The kids had a ton of fun playing in the river. They had a blast throwing rocks into the river and playing in the sand and throwing sticks. The water was freezing cold and I had no desire to get in the water. Brandon and some of the other guys got into the water but after they got in one time they decided it was way too cold and didn't want to go in again.
After playing in the water for a while we moved the fun to the grass up the hill where are food and stuff was. The kids played some baseball and played with a hammock and then we called it. It was a fun afternoon!
We then stopped by Kilwins for some ice cream on our way home.
After getting ice cream we headed home and called it a day. We were going to try and go swimming at our pool one last time but we got to the pool 5 minutes before 6 and it was closing at 6 that day. We were pretty bummed but made the most of it and headed home to let the kids watch a movie and eat their dinner before heading to bed.
