Off to Idaho we go!

Tuesday March 17th we got up and headed to Idaho. Brandon was supposed to work that morning but his patients were all canceling because of the Coronovirus. So he canceled his day and we decided to take off Tuesday instead. It was crazy how quickly this virus was having an affect on everything. Anyways, we were planning on getting up nice and early to head to Idaho but for some reason Brandon's alarm didn't go off. So we were up at 6 instead of 4 and that was a bummer. I was really wanting the boys and especially Kayden to sleep for a while in the morning. It makes the drive so much easier on the boys when they can sleep for a couple of hours before we stop for breakfast. Since we didn't wake up on time we were off around 7 and made it almost an hour before getting out breakfast foods. Brandon had a phone call that morning to figure out what their office was going to do about the virus and keeping people safe. Plus everyones patients were starting to cancel. Brandon also found out that morning that one of his staff members husbands worked at one of the intel places in Fort Collins and 3 people tested positive for the virus so they sent over 3,000 people home that day. So Brandon and Travis decided to just have the front desk ladies cancel the rest of the patients for the week and send everyone home. People everywhere were freaking out. Even we were getting more nervous about this virus and the impact it was having. Especially, since we were reading about how the virus was surviving on surfaces for longer periods of time than other virus's do. So we had planned to not do much on our stops at gas stations. We were officially being cautious. In fact on our rode trip anytime we stopped for gas and let the boys take a potty break we made sure that they didn't touch anything. The first stop I carried Emmett into the gas station and opened the bathroom door. Then after going to the bathroom I held Emmett and opened the door with a paper towel and then had Emmett point to what treat he wanted and then I kicked the door open to leave the gas station. Then Brandon took the other 2 boys and made sure they washed their hands really good and then he grabbed the treats the boys wanted. We wouldn't let them touch anything. It was a very different way to travel. haha Kayden handled the drive ok. He wasn't a huge fan of the long drive and got pretty grumpy a few times. Which is why we were hoping to leave nice and early. We were glad the drive went pretty well for not getting up when we wanted and not being able to get out and stretch our legs as much as we normally do.

The view on our morning drive was really pretty though.

Emmett was being silly and covering himself up with his blanket.

Trying to feed Kayden as we kept driving.

I had to take Kayden out a couple of times to get him to drink a little bit more bottle and to change his diaper. Once I got him out of his seat he didn't want to go back in his seat. He loved just sitting on my lap while we drove. So he would get pretty upset when I put him back in his seat.

Excited to be on the road to Idaho!!

Thankfully, I brought some fun toys for Kayden. He had fun playing with his toy piano in the car and some other little toys and books I brought for him.

We even brought go fish for the boys to play in the back together. We were able to squish Emmett in the back with Ethan and Wyatt and they were able to play cards together for a little bit.

Emmett fell asleep for a little bit with his blanket covering his head. haha What a silly kid!!
We made our usual stop for lunch at IN N OUT. We normally get out and eat inside and let the kids stretch their legs a little bit. This time we were not able to do that. Every fast food place had their eating area closed. I could see signs on doors to lots of places that we past. We were just hoping that IN N OUT would be open. Thankfully they were open for business just not their dining area. So we had to go through the drive thru. We figured we would go take our food to a park and at least eat on the grass and let the kids run a bit. However, there really isn't a nice area to stop in South Ogden where the IN N OUT is. We pulled over to a park near by and it was pretty sketchy. There were some homeless people at the benches and we didn't feel super comfortable getting all the kids out to sit on the grass in this neighborhood. Luckily, the boys decided they just wanted to get to Grandma and Grandpa's house and not get out of the car. So we got food distributed and headed back on the road. It is usually so nice to get out of the car and eat at IN N OUT but since they were closed to dining in we couldn't. We were just glad we only had 2 hours left. So we got back on the highway and were so glad when we finally made to to Idaho Falls and could get out.

We had fun hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Murri and the cousins. Technically we were breaking the law because we had more than 10 people hanging out together. Lots of states had made the rule that there could be no gatherings of more than 10 people. Every one was trying to limit the spread of the virus. So we were supposed to be social distancing and not hanging out in groups of more than 10. Oh well, we couldn't do anything about that and we were having fun spending time with everyone. The kids had a lot of fun. Sadly, the weather was not the greatest. So we went to the church building a couple of times to get the kids out of the house. The church buildings were closed to activities, basketball and other social gatherings. So we were the only ones there except for the couple of times that some other family showed up to do the same thing we were. haha

Kayden had so much fun hanging out on the dinning table.

Hanging out in the stroller while the big kids ran around the gym.

The first time we went to the gym the kids played tag and knock out.

Wyatt got hit in the face with a football by his Dad and was pretty upset for a while. He eventually felt better and started to play again.

I am not sure if Kayden enjoyed holding the football or not. He kept making this face and then would throw it and then almost seemed to get mad when I handed it back to him. haha

After letting the kids play for a while we took them home and got lunch ready and put Kayden down for a nap. Then Brandon and I headed back to the church to play some pickle ball with his parents and Ty.

This silly boy. He kept putting his leg up in the chair like this. I don't see how it can be comfy but he seemed to enjoy it. haha

While we were in Idaho we went through the drive thru of this Soda place. They have the mixed sodas. It is so tasty. I get half Diet Coke, half doctor pepper with raspberry puree and some cream. It is so tasty. We got it like 3 times while we were there. Kayden must have sensed how tasty it was because he kept trying to eat my cup. haha

Look at that cute little baby boy!!

Kayden wasn't too sure about the grass. He enjoyed being outside though.

Man this kid is so stinking cute. What I love about this picture is that it reminds me of a picture of me when I was probably about his age.

The second time we went to the church gym we went to the dollar store before hand and bought a ton of glow sticks. Then we went to the gym and turned off the lights and had a glow in the dark dance party.

It was a lot of fun. The kids had a blast and I think it helped get some of their wiggles out.
We had to be creative with getting the kids out of the house. Like I said earlier the weather wasn't the best while we were there so the kids didn't get out of the house very often. They played in the backyard a couple of times but other than that they were in the basement playing. We couldn't go to any play places or anything fun outside of the house because everything was shut down because of Covid 19. Even the movie theatres were closed. We grabbed food some pizza one evening for dinner and Vandy and I grabbed some five guys for lunch one afternoon while the other adults went off to play pickle ball at the gym that was still open. What is crazy is that Vandy said that when she went to pick up the food at five guys there were people eating inside and she said no one was talking. She said that even the people working seemed almost robotic. She said that it was super creepy. It was a bummer that this Coronovirus was affecting us so much. I am just glad that the kids had fun. While we were in Idaho we kept hearing about rumors of possible borders closing. We were afraid that our Govenor would decide to close the borders to Colorado and then we would have to pack up really quick and get out of Idaho so we could get home. Thankfully that never happened. Brandon had quite a few phone calls while we were there trying to figure out how and when they would be able to open. Dentistry was not allowed to open so Brandon was going to be out of work for a while. In fact most places were having to close their doors. It was starting to be a really crazy time. Every day we read more news articles about how many people were being infected by the virus and how badly New York was being hit with it. Our conversation every day was about this virus. What else was there to talk about? It was such a huge thing happening in our lives. Other than the worries of what this pandemic would bring for us we had a good trip.

Look at that sweet face! Kayden was really enjoying eating big people food. I brought some baby food with us but he was more excited about eating regular foods.

The kids played just dance on the switch quite a bit. It was hard to tell them to not play on the switch when we really couldn't go anywhere. We couldn't even just go play at a park. So we let them play on the screens and then tried to play some card games with them and get outside whenever the sun did come out.

The kids were really fun to watch when they played just dance.

Its not a good time with cousins unless you wrestle with Dad and the uncle. haha

We also picked up some ice cream from Reeds Dairy. The kids loved having ice cream. Plus we were trying to finish some of it off so we didn't leave Grandma and Grandpa with a ton of ice cream. So we let them have ice cream for like 3 days in a row. haha

Cute little kids.

Also, while we were in Idaho Kayden started to go from army crawl to a sitting position. He also started to crawl a little bit on his knees. The funniest part about him crawling on his hands and knees was that he would start to cry while he did it. haha Not sure why, but, it was super funny.

A little bit more of Just Dance.

And a little bit more of crying crawling Kayden. haha

This little boys LOVES his blanket so much. He smooshes his face into his blanket all time and gets so excited when he sees it. He also likes to put it in his mouth and just hold it there like a little puppy. haha

Here is the main reason we decided to go to Idaho. Brandon's dad told him that he could have the boat. He was tired of it taking up space and they had bought electric bikes. So we figured spring break would be the perfect time to go pick it up. So now we have a boat! haha

Sunday morning we got up at 3:30 so we could leave by 4. We actually got up on time and got out the door by 4. The kids did ok in the car on the way home. Kayden had a hard time with the drive home even with us getting up early.

He barely wanted to drink his bottles so I tried giving him milk in his sippy cup. He then started playing with the straw a flicking milk all over his face. He thought it was so funny. He would laugh when the milk sprayed his face. He also had a huge smile on his face every time he did it. He couldn't care less to drink it. He just wanted to play with it. At least it kept him happy for a little bit.

Then we stopped in Rawlins to get gas and let the kids go to the bathroom. I stayed in the car with Kayden to get him to drink his bottle and change his bum. Brandon took all the boys. When he got back he said that the gas station was only allowing 5 people in the store at one time and that because he had all 3 boys with him everyone else had to wait outside the store while Brandon took the boys inside. Brandon made sure the boys didn't touch anything and that they washed their hands really good and then they picked their treats and were back in the car. Brandon also said that the lady in the gas station said that they were closing their store that night. They were only keeping the pumps open come Monday morning. We were so glad that they were open as we drove through. If they hand't been open it would have been fine. The boys would have just had to go pee on the street and they would have been fine with that. I would have had the only issue. haha Once the boys had their bathroom breaks and had their treats, I went in to use the restroom and then we let Kayden play for just a minute before hitting the road.

Look at that happy face!! Kayden was loving being out of his seat. He especially loved playing with the steering wheel. I felt so bad strapping him back into his car seat. He was not very happy about it. He cried for a really long time after that. Nothing I did would make him happy. I even got him out and sat with him in the back for just a little bit and he just kept screaming. He was just so done with being in the car. Poor little buddy! I think he cried for an hour straight. He just would not stop.

This is the face Emmett makes when he eats hot cheetos. haha Yet he keeps wanting more. He is so funny. He says he likes them but then eats one and guzzles some water. haha I always tell him he doesn't have to eat them or even try to like them. Yet he kept wanting them. I also told him on the drive that he couldn't drink too much water because he were not stopping to go to the bathroom again. We were not even sure if bathrooms would be open the next place we stopped. We did have to stop one last time to get the kids some lunch. It was already past 1 o clock and we knew they were hungry. So we grabbed the boys some lunch and then made our way home. Ty and Vandy left the same time we did from Idaho and were stopping at our house just to let the kids get some wiggles out before they drove their last 2 hours to Colorado Springs. They picked up some Pot Belly sandwiches for us and we chatted about the drive and how careful we were at gas stations. None of us wanted to get this virus so we were all being extra careful to keep clean when we had to stop. It is so funny to think of how much more of a germaphobe we have become. Thankfully, we made it home safely and all the kids were glad to be out of the car. It was a fun trip and we were glad we had gone. Now we had a boat that takes up a ton of space in our driveway and we can't use it yet. Hopefully having the boat will be really nice this summer and worth the hassle.
