Our trip to California started on Friday February 3rd when we got up at around 3 in the morning to start our drive. We were driving to St. George on that first day and wanted to be able to get there with plenty of time to spare so we could have fun swimming and get dinner and ice cream. We didn't want to feel like the evening was rushed. So we got up and started our drive that morning around 3 am. The kids slept great that morning and we were able to make a little over 4 hours of our drive with them asleep. I was in and out of sleep that morning and luckily we didn't hit very bad weather. There was one spot where we literally got through a tunnel and the roads were snowy and icy and that helped to keep Brandon awake and alert. That was the only spot that had some bad weather and was about 2 hours into our drive. The kids handled the drive really well. Ethan and Wyatt always do a great job and Emmett did a good job this time thankfully.
Emmett was so excited to get out of the car when we stopped at the gas station around breakfast time. He kept grabbing everything he saw. They had stuffed animals too and Emmett kept grabbing them and hugging them and it was hard on him when we had to take them away and leave. haha
Yay.... officially in Utah!!
We stopped at McDonalds for lunch and let the kids get some wiggles out at the play place. We only had a couple of hours left before hitting our St. George destination so we were able to take our time and let the kids get some good play time in before heading back into the car.
haha I love that they all said "cheese" and gave me some smiles even if they are goofy smiles! :-)
Then Ethan wanted me to take a picture of him on the slide. haha He is so funny! I am glad that they actually want me to take pictures of them and are not complaining and wanting me to stop!
Emmett wasn't too sure about going inside the play area for quite a while. He just wanted to go up and down the stairs over and over again. haha
After a long lunch break we headed to our final destination for the day.
We got to St. George earlier than expected and couldn't check into the hotel yet so we hit the mall and I got a new pair of shorts and we got the boys some swim shirts and then headed to check into the hotel and go swimming.
oh ya... what a stud!! :-)
The pool water was actually really warm but Emmett did not seem to want to go swimming. He kept whining and wanting to get out. haha Wyatt and Ethan had a blast though. We sure were glad that we decided to go swimming before dinner because right before we were heading out the pool got really crowded!
What a cutie pie!!
Oh yes our beloved IN N OUT!!! Oh how we had longed for this moment!!! It was so yummy and hit the spot! :-) Even Emmett ate really well and he was chowing down on the french fries. He normally doesn't care for french fries so this was a big deal. But... who can blame him, its IN N OUT everything is good at IN N OUT! :-)
After dinner we headed to get some ice cream before calling it a night!
If you can't tell the ice cream was a hit! haha
Chilling watching some TV before bed!!
Emmett wanted to be with his brothers so badly. I tried laying him on the other bed to drink his bottle and watch the tv but he wanted to sit by his brothers! I love how much they love each other!! After a little bit of relaxing and winding down it was bed time.
The next morning we got up and went to get our breakfast at the hotel but it was insanely crowded because the Utah mens Choir had been staying at the hotel that night as well. So there were no seats and it was just super crowded. So we grabbed what food we could and headed up to the tiny lobby area to feed the kids. After trying to keep Emmett contained and trying to get him to eat something we took off after Wyatt and Ethan had finished eating a little something. Brandon and I got some breakfast jacks from Jack in the box since we didn't get a chance or even care to eat at the hotel. After all of our tummies were full we finished our last 5 hours of driving and arrived at my parents house I think around 2.
After stretching our legs for a little bit we headed back into the car to go to a park and let the kids run around. We also grabbed some lunch at Tios Tacos.
The kids had so much fun running around at the park and playing with Grandpa and GG and throwing balls and frisbees. It was a good afternoon and we got slurpees on the way home from the park to top off the day!
