Our Trip to the Dominican Republic

Well on Wednesday May 21st I went and picked up Grandma Murri from the airport that morning so that we could leave that evening. We spent the day filling her in on the boys and what to do when certain things happen. I had a 5 page paper written up for her to look through. Not that I was worried about her watching the boys at all, just giving her a heads up on how things normally go around the house and places she can go and people who are around if she needed help.

So after dinner and playing for a little bit it was time to get the boys to bed before Brandon and I left for our vacation. Ethan was crying so hard because he didnt want us to leave. He kept saying that he was going to miss me too much and then he would start crying again. It took a while to get him to settle down. Wyatt went right down and I have to admit I cried a little bit when I kissed him goodnight. I also cried when Ethan was crying. It was hard not too! So Brandon finally went in to try and calm him down because he kept coming out of his room yelling for me and crying. Then our friend who was giving us a ride got to our house and we headed out to the shuttle place just down the street. When we got to the shuttle Brandon told me that he had Ethan say a prayer to help him feel better and that Ethan said in his prayer, "help me to stop crying and not be sad anymore." Just about breaks your heart leaving him like that. Anyways, then we were off to the airport. We got there with plenty of time and it was raining so I was cold and wanted something warm and the smell of french fries filled the air so yes we ate french fries at 10:30 that night. Who cares though right?!? We were officially starting our vacation and could therefore eat whatever we wanted whenever we wanted! :-)

Too bad we were too impatient because once we got to our terminal we saw McDonalds. Way better fries than Burger King! haha We sat around for a while and then borded the plane. It was a red eye flight to Fort Laderdale Florida and we were flying on Spirit. It was a terrible flight! haha We were so tired and the plane was small. I dont think we have ever been so cramped in a flight ever. Besides that around 2 the guy next to me decided he was going to grab a snack out of his bag and it REAKED!! Oh man it was awful! At first I thought he was going to throw up because he grabbed out this plastic bad and was holding it all funny! Then the smell was just awful it just about smelled like throw up. Besides that awful smell coming from the food he also decided that he had to smack his food as loud as possible. After about a half hour of him smacking on this nasty smelling treat I decided there was no way I was falling asleep anymore. It was terrible!! So we arrived into Fort Laderdale at 5:30 in the morning. The airport was freezing so once we got to the exit we just went outside and sat in the warm humid air. We now had 8 hours to kill! Since it was so early we had no idea what to do. We didnt think we could fall asleep and we didnt want to just hang out in the airport for the whole time. So after looking up breakfast places we decided to take a cab to the beach and walk around. It was my first cab ride and I have to tell you it is nothing like the movies! haha It was so quiet and awkward. Dont really care to take a cab ride again any time soon! haha So anways we got to the beach and walked around for probably an hour and then got breakfast on the beach. It was a farely nice start to the day even though we were so tired and had a ton of time left before our next flight!

Sitting outside the airport at 5:30 in the morning, trying to figure out what we were going to do for 8 hours.

We kind of got to see the sun rise on the beach.

I had to take a picture in front of this Bubba Gump shrimp restaurant. I look so much like Forest Gump right!?!

So after breakfast we walked around a bit more and then called a cab to come pick us up. When we got back to the airport we found some benches inside and decided to try and take a little snooze. We fell asleep for probably 45 minutes. Then we spent the rest of the time playing a game called 10 and 2 and just hanging out and eating our candy and beef jerky until it was finally time to board the plane! haha

SO ready to get on our last flight and get to the D.R.
And we were finally off!!

Flying over the Island!

When we got to Santo Domingo we went through customs and then met up with Tyrel and Vandy to get the rental car and drive to Punta Cana where our resort was. Tyrel had reserved a mid sized car and that is not what we got. The only car they had for us was not big enough to fit everything.

So this is how we fit it all! haha For the first little bit we rode like this. Then after a while we decided to tie one of the golf club bags to the roof. Which worked out a little better and then I sat with just one club bad on me for the rest of the way. It was crazy driving out of the airport and being in the driving scene for the first time in the D.R. Vandy and I were afraid for our lives! haha People were driving on the wrong side of the rode and cutting off people and there were motorcycles everywhere just doing whatever they wanted! Pretty nuts!! By the time we got to our resort we were SO.. sick of traveling! But the resort was a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be!

The front desk area! It was such a sweet set up! And the best part was that we had finally arrived to our vacation destination! So we got all settle into our rooms and then walked around a bit and ate some dinner at the buffet and then called it a night! We met up with Tyrel and Vandy the next morning at the buffet for breakfast!

The first morning was probably the best! Brandon was having a blast talking to the workers and trying to get the royal treatment. It seemed to be working for the first day and maybe the second day. Then after the workers realized we were not tipping them they kind of stopped giving us all the things we wanted and treating us as nice! haha We spent that Friday just lounging around and checking out the area.

This sweet spot was only for the privileged! Since we spent like a dollar more each night we were part of the priveleged and we were so glad that we did. They had way nicer spots on the beach and we were able to go to 4 different restaurants at night for dinner instead of just the buffet. Plus the wrist band was sweet! :-)

We spent some time on the beach and then after a while we decided to go into town to a city called Higuey!
On our way to Higuey!

Driving around the city was pretty crazy! Everyone just does whatever they want to do when they drive! Pretty crazy!
This was a big church

That night when we got back we went to dinner at the mexican restaurant that they had at the resort! It was decent but not the best!

This was the bar on the beach that we got some of our pina coladas from!

Such a pretty view!

Chilling at the pool!

There was a golf corse at the resort and so on Saturday the boys went golfing in the morning and then me and Vandy went with them in the afternoon. I got to golf a little bit too which was fun!

It was a pretty golf coarse.

After golfing we were all really hot so we got ready and went to the pool for a little bit before going to dinner! Since the pool closed at 7 there really was not much to do at night. So after dinner we would play some cards and then normally just call it a night. The dancing was not until 11 and we were too tired to wait and stay up till 2. Panzy I know! :-)
