Our Trip to the D.R. continued

On Sunday we went to church. It was cool going to church because we went to a little branch not far from our resort. There were maybe 30 people in the branch and Brandon had to give me the play by play of what people were saying so that I could know what the people were talking on. I even sang in spanish. Sure it was not good at all but I tried!! :-) The rest of the day we relaxed at the pool and hung out. Oh and a side not of the night night before. We went trying to find this building on Saturday  night so that we would know how to get to it in the morning. We drove around for a while trying to find it and kept driving into a little residential area. Brandon finally asked a security guard if he knew where the church was. He had no clue so we kept just driving around trying to find it with the directions that Vandy was able to find on her phone. After circling around the same area for the third time and all thinking where were the missionaries when you need them!? Then as we were driving down a little street we saw them!! They were like a beacon of light in the darkness. We were all so excited to see these young men in their white shirts and their backpacks. We pulled over and asked them where the building was and we were like 2 houses away from it! haha So we all got out of the car and talked with them for a little bit. It sure was funny how immediatly I felt like I was safe, just because we saw the missionaries and were there talking with them. It is truly crazy how that badge can make such a difference. I mean they are just 19 year old boys and yet because they are Elders we felt safe! haha Pretty cool experience! :-) 

It sure was hot in the building. They had fans running but it was super hot without air conditioning sitting in that church building. Another funny thing, right before sacrament meeting 2 other families showed up, more white people! haha It was pretty funny to see other members that were just on vacation like we were show up to go to sacrament meeting!

It was also Mothers Day in the DR while we were there. So they had this Happy Mothers Day sign up at Dinner time!

The rest of the night we spent hanging out and playing cards!

Monday: Scape Park

So on Monday we went to a place called Scape park. It had a few different things that you could go do. It was kind of expensive but it was fun. We went zip lining and then went on a little hike to Hoyo Azul (blue hole). It was a long and fun filled day! :-)

I was pretty nervous the first zip line that we did but after that it was no problem. I thought we would go faster than we did! Oh well still a cool experience! :-)

Pretty views. My back hurt from the straps at the end though! haha Poor Vandy got a rope burn on her forearm from trying to grab the rope after letting go of it. Other than that we had no other injuries!

After our zip lining adventure we went and had some lunch at the little food area that they had. The sandwhich that we got was simple but actually tasted really good (mostly because we were sick of the food at the resort already! ). Then after lunch we went on our little hike the Hoyo Azul!

It was a fun filled day! The water at the blue hole was FREEZING!! It was the kind of cold water that each time you jump back in it never feels any warmer! haha But it was fun and the water was so pretty. When we first got to the blue hole there were a ton of brazilians there swimming for there tour. Luckily they left after a few minutes and then the 8 of us in our group were able to just enjoy it to ourselves! It was fun!
