The fun with Papa and Gigi continued through that weekend. We celebrated Emmett's birthday a few days early so that they could be a part of it. So Friday morning we go up and had Emmett color his birthday crown so we could go get Birthday donuts.
Look at that happy face!!! He was so excited to celebrate his Birthday!
Coloring his crown!
I can't believe Emmett is now 5 years old!!! How did he get so grown up!!
My mom offered to watch the other kids so that we could take just Emmett to go pick up the Birthday donuts. We decided to go to the Lamars off drake because it is their main hub and would have more options to pick from. Emmett was so excited to go get his Birthday donuts in Dad's car! haha
The Birthday Donut outing we won't ever forget. We had to wear masks into the store. So the three of us put on our masks and headed in to pick our donuts.
After picking all the donuts we headed home to eat them with everyone.
Emmett loved his donut and was so happy.
After eating some yummy donuts we headed off to go play some pickle ball!
We had a lot of fun. Until..... Emmett biffed it on his scooter and scratched up himself pretty good.
He said, "This is the worst Birthday". haha Thankfully that didn't last for long and then he enjoyed the rest of his day celebrating his Birthday!
I also attempted to make my own ice cream cake! It was a messy experience. However, it turned out super tasty! Tastier than the ice cream cakes we have spent a lot of money on the last few years. The frosting that I did was a mix of vanilla frosting and some whipped cream. It was super tasty. It was just super hard to frost because the frosting melted super fast. So I had to frost it fast and put it in the freezer. It was a crazy process. Once it was done though it was worth it.
Emmett wanted to do the slip n slide that day so we got that out.
After all the fun in the sun we picked up Freddy's for dinner and then it was time for presents.
We are not sure why he posed like this! haha It sure was cute though!
Then there was this.. haha Sucking in their stomachs for some reason!
Pure excitement to open his presents!!
He got some great presents. One present was a bug catcher pack from Papa and Gigi. He was so excited about that!
Time for cake!!
Look at that homemade ice cream cake!! Seriously though, it was delicious! Emmett said he wanted an ice cream cake with gold and blue. So that is what I gave him. The cake part was blue, the frosting on the outside was gold and it was an ice cream cake. Plus we added a little extra and put some cheetah's on top. Which only made sense because Cheetah's have been his favorite animal for years!
He was super happy about it and when he tasted it he said it was super yummy! So it was a success!
Then we headed outside for just a few minutes and let him try out his new kite from Papa and Gigi.
He was super excited to have his very own kite.
It was a good day of celebrating little Emmett! Even though it wasn't his official birthday it was great being able to celebrate it with Papa and Gigi there.
Also, something awesome that happened that night after all of the birthday festivities were over was that Kayden took more steps. I handed him Emmetts box from his airplanes and Kayden held it with both hands and started walking toward me. He got brave all of a sudden and ended up taking like 8 steps in a row that night. It was super exciting! We had been hoping that he would start walking while my parents were in town because he was getting so close. We had almost lost hope. He started to get more brave while they were there and would take a step or 2 from the ottoman to the couch. So we knew he was getting closer to walking. So that night before they left he finally took extra steps all by himself. The cutest thing about it is that after he would take a bunch of steps and then fall or sit down we would all clap excitedly for him and he would just give the biggest smile and clap right along with us. It was so stinking cute!! I wish we had gotten that part of it on camera. It was just too cute! He did it every time too. He would take some steps and then clap when we clapped and give us the biggest grin! It was priceless!!
Saturday morning we played some pickle ball again before heading home to clean up and let my parents pack up their stuff. They were heading home Saturday afternoon and we tried to squeeze in a little bit more fun before they left.
We didn't play for too long but it was fun to get a little bit more in before we had to send them back home to California.
Kayden was standing by the bathroom door trying to get in. He knew Papa and Gigi were in there and he seemed like he wanted in to see them. haha
Lastly, before my parents flew home we grabbed some lunch and then drove by their New Home!! You heard that right!! My parents bought a house here in Colorado!! We are so excited to have them just a few minutes away! After the third time of walking through this house they decided they really liked it and that they were going to put in an offer. My mom said that the realtor had told her that she would be there the next day if they were ready to "Shoot the wise man!" haha We laughed so hard. We knew she meant "Pull the trigger!" Now it is a standing joke between us! haha It was so great! So after thinking about it we got our friend Cameron Loux who is a realtor in on the negotiations. So my parents were going to save a good chunk from him because he said he would be willing to do it for a pickle ball paddle. Since he hadn't done any work to get them into this house they worked a deal. So he went in with them and helped them negotiate. Later the Thursday afternoon they put in an official offer. When my parents got back to our house my mom said, "Well, Im sorry! You might have to take care of an old lady!" She told me that they had put in an offer! I was so excited! Of course it was all up in the air still. They kept saying that they would probably come back with a counter offer. When I went to the store with my Dad that afternoon we talked about it a lot. I wanted to make sure that they felt good about this move. I didn't want them to do this if it felt wrong to them. He said that it didn't feel wrong. They were not too excited to leave Ryan and Remy and Tif but they would be a flight away. They were also not expecting their offer to be excepted. My Dad kept saying that they could come up a little bit more in their offer when they get a counter offer. So we figured the game was just starting. However, later that day my Dad jumped onto his email and their offer had been excepted! Both my Mom and Dad were in shock! They couldn't believe their offer had been excepted! They had totally been expecting a counter offer. My Mom had said earlier that day that "If its meant to be it will happen". It was now happening!! They were both in shock! I did a happy dance and gave them hugs! Then when I went to walk upstairs I stopped for a second to hear what they really thought. I was just wanting this to be the right move for them and that they were not just doing it because Brandon and I had been wanting it to happen for years now! So I stopped for a second and hear my Mom say, "What have we done?" I ended up asking them how they felt about it later that day. I asked them if they had buyers remorse now or if they felt good about it. They both said they felt good about it but it was just crazy that they excepted it and that it was happening. My mom then mentioned that she was thinking about all the things she had to do at her house to move out here. Which I understand. Plus it is closing a whole chapter and starting a new one which is kind of sad. That and change is hard and this is a BIG change!! So before heading to the airport we stopped by their soon to be home one last time!
There it is!! 1834 Paley Dr.! Which is really funny because their house in California is 10834 Plumas Rd. How ironic is that!!! I still can't believe they are actually doing it! I was hopeful that they would do it sooner than later but in reality we had thought it wouldn't be for like 5 more years! So the fact that my Dad jumped on it and said, "Lets do it!" was kind of a shock to us all. It was really the perfect time to buy though. With this pandemic going on the interest rates are super low. So it was the right time to buy and now they just have to figure out the logistics with moving and when they are going to move. They still have to go through the process of getting their financing and closing on the house but at least it is in the works!! We are so excited to have them close to us! Plus anytime any of my siblings come out to visit them we will get to see them too. So anyways, we took pictures of them in front of their soon to be new home here in Colorado and then Brandon took them to the airport and we said, "See you late!" It was a great visit from them and we couldn't be happier that they are going to be moving just a couple of miles away!
After they left Emmett noticed this picture that he had drawn for Papa. He was sad that Papa and left it. So I took a picture of it and sent it to my Dad.
Kayden was really enjoying the balloons this time around.
Then on Monday Emmett officially turned 5!! Even though we mostly celebrated his Birthday that previous Friday we tried to make him feel special on his actual birthday.
Kayden is so silly. I went outside with him while the kids were playing inside and I brought out my drink of Diet Coke with huckleberry and coconut creamer in it. Kayden seemed to know exactly what I had in that cup since I had given him a taste a different time. He wanted it so badly! I can't blame him though. It is quite delicious! haha
And then started the stuffing everything he can in his mouth at once phase. What a nut!!
Emmetts real Birthday was spent with him playing with his brothers. Then I let him frost his own Birthday cupcakes. He really enjoyed doing that.
In fact, I let him frost the cupcakes that his brothers were going to be able to eat. He thought that was pretty fun!
After frosting some cup cakes we headed outside in the front yard. I had arranged for some friends to come by and do a little Birthday parade for Emmett to help make him feel special on his big day. Emmett wasn't quite sure how to react. He saw some friends and just took off down the sidewalk on his scooter. I had to call him back so he could say hi and take the bag of goodies that they had brought for him.
He was super excited to see some friends and get some yummy candy!
We didn't have too many come by for the parade but at least we had about 4 drive by. I was glad that we had a few people come by for Emmett on his birthday! I hope he felt special!
For dinner Emmett wanted Chick-Fil-A. So Brandon brought some home for us and we ate out in the backyard.
Emmett was loving life! He always wants to eat outside!
Then we let them finish off with some water balloons. Emmett had been wanting to do some water balloons all day. So I couldn't call it a day without letting him play with some before coming inside.
They had fun chucking their water balloons around and then it was time to come inside for some cupcake and one last present!
We had opened most of Emmett's presents on Friday. So we decided to save 1 present for him to open on his Birthday. He didn't know that we had one last one left. So he was pretty excited to open another present his birthday.
Look at how happy he is to have us sing Happy Birthday to him again! :-)
Emmett was so lucky this year to be able to celebrate his birthday twice. I think he felt special on both days which is great!! Friday night after spending the whole day celebrating his birthday he told me that he wished he had gotten more presents. He then proceeded to tell me that he didn't get super cool presents and that he want more. He also told me that his cake wasn't what he wanted and that he wanted a different cake. It was so fun to hear that at night. He was so tired from the days activities that he just started throwing a fit about what he did and didn't get. I just love it so much when my kids do that. NOT!! Luckily, he changed his tune the next day and had fun playing with all of his toys.
Still crazy that Emmett is 5 now!! He is a sweet little boy when he wants to be. He makes sure to tell me and Brandon every night that he loves us and likes us. The nightly routine goes as follows, "Mom, I love you and I like you and you are the best and sleep good sleep tight!" He tells that to Dad as well. Then he will tell us that like 5 more times as we walk out the door. It is every night multiple times. He will also randomly tell us that during the day when one of us is leaving for just a bit to run an errand. It is so silly! I don't know why he feels he has to tell us that all the time. It is kind of sweet but after the 20th time we just want him to stop. haha He still loves cheetahs and wants to play cheetahs with anyone that will. He ends up just telling me how to play. He tells me what to say and what I am supposed to do. So it really isn't all that fun for me to play with him. I try to avoid it which I kind of feel bad about. A lot of times he will pretend to be a cheetah while we are playing pickelball or out golfing as well. Which most of the time he is a baby cheetah. He also has been playing that he is a baby cheetah that is in an egg. Then we are supposed to see the egg and then when it cracks he tells us how we are supposed to react and what to say. It is kind of a silly way to play and I don't love it. The hard part with him and his brothers is that he is a step behind how they want to play all the time. He wants to play make believe animals and Ethan and Wyatt want to play legos or something else that Emmett doesn't want to play. They get along really well for the most part. However, Emmett would much rather play Cheetahs all day long if they would join in with him. Emmett also still wakes up Brandon in the middle of the night consistently. He just comes to the door and whispers, "Dad....." until Brandon gets up and takes him back to his room too tuck him in. We were really hoping that now that Emmett was 5 that he would start to sleep better. That has not really happened. He has also been having a hard time with listening and being obedient. He will just ignore everything that we say to him when we need him to do something. Which is really hard to deal with. We get frustrated with him like all day long and end up yelling at him after the 3 time asking him to do or not do something. It has been pretty rough. Though he may be a difficult and stubborn child he really is so sweet. Sometimes when I lay with him at night he will tell me, "Mom, you are the best mom in the whole entire world!" or "Mom, when you get ready for Church, you look really pretty!" He also is super sweet to Kayden. He just LOVES his baby brother and will give him the soften hugs and kisses. Emmett loves having brothers and being able to sleep in the same room as them. He would also play outside all day if I let him. When we do go outside to play in the water in the backyard he is always the last to want to go in. He has played outside for like 5 hours straight before. Just playing in the pool outside and with toys in the backyard. Yet, he is still has a ton of energy after all of that. He loves to go on bike rides and ride his scooter out in the front so we do that a lot these days. He also loves to play with paper airplanes with his brothers. They do have a lot of fun together and I hope that Emmett can stay close to them as they get older. I also think that Emmett will enjoy having Kayden around to play with and boss around. It will be a lot like how it was when Ethan and Wyatt were younger. Ethan always bossed Wyatt around or told him how they should play and Wyatt would follow along. I could see it being the same with with Emmett and Kayden as Kayden gets older. Emmett is also the loudest child I think I have had. haha His volume is always at like 90%. We have to tell him all the time to be quieter. Especially when Kayden is napping! With all of that said Emmett is a sweet boy! He is such a cute little boy and when he is around other people and his shy side comes out I just want to hold him and tell him its ok. We sure do love Emmett and are so glad that he is in our family. He may be tough to handle sometimes but we couldn't imagine our family without him in it! Happy Birthday Emmett! We sure do love you so much!!!
