Celebrating an Incredible Man!

Brandon and I were planning on heading down to California on Brandon's birthday to help my parents move out here. The plan was to fly down on October 1st and help my parents load the moving truck and then drive with them to Colorado and help them unload. We were actually looking forward to it because we were getting away from the kids, I could see the house I mostly grew up in one last time and we had planned a bunch food stops for Cali and the drive back to Colorado. A week before we were supposed to head to California my parents changed plans. They didn't think they could fit all of their stuff in the one 26ft truck so they were going to hire a moving company to move them. So we no longer needed to come out to help them move. Plus they were not going to move out that weekend anymore. Things were just not working out for that to be possible. So they planned to move the next week and head to Utah for Weston and Hayley's son Michaels baptism and then head the rest of the way to Colorado. So Brandon and I were left with a dilemma, Brandon had Thursday off because we were supposed to be flying to Cali. We didn't know if we still wanted to just go to Cali and help my parents pack and just make a weekend of it and then maybe drive one of their cars back to Colorado for them or if we just wanted to drop the kids off in Colorado Springs (part of the original plan) and head back home to enjoy a weekend without the kids. The problem with going to Cali if that we didn't want to spend the money of a hotel for the drive back and we didn't really want to stay at a hotel because of the Coronavirus going on. We wouldn't be able to really enjoy going swimming or soaking in a hot tub without worrying that we were going to catch the virus and have Brandon out of work for 2 weeks. So we ultimately decided to just take the kids to their cousins and drive back home to spend some time alone. Since we were not going to be spending Brandon's birthday with the kids we decided to celebrate with them the night before. I figured they would be bummed if they didn't get to give him presents of sing to him on his birthday so this worked out really well.

So we opened presents and sang to him and the boys were so happy to do so.
Kayden was even happier to be able to help Daddy blow out his candles! haha

So stinking cute!!

I think Kayden was really happy we celebrated Daddy's birthday that night too. haha

Then on October 1st we let the kids get some school work done and then took off to Colorado Springs.

We stopped at MOD pizza for lunch and then finished the drive. The kids were super excited to see their cousins again. After giving Vandy the ins and outs of Kayden we gave hugs to the kids and told them to be good and took off back home.

On our drive back home we went a different route through parker Colorado so that we could get some Hawaiian shaved ice!!

It was delicious!!!
This guy!!! haha I am so glad that I got to spend the day with this amazing man on his birthday!! He is such a great Dad and a great Husband. He is such a hard worker and loves me and our boys so much! Brandon is truly my other half and I only hope that I express to him how grateful I am to have him in my life!!!

Then after grabbing dinner at Hu Hot we made our way to the movie theatre!

We were the only ones in the theatre until about 5 minutes into the previews. There was probably a total of 8 people in the theatre including us. We saw Tenet. It was a pretty good movie. Then we were off back home. It was a late night and we were tired when we got home!

The next morning we were hoping to get out and play some pickle ball and then go golfing. We started the morning off by going out to breakfast and as we were out at breakfast the smoke in the air was terrible. There was ash falling and the smell of smoke was so bad that we knew we were not going to be able to play pickle ball or golf. So we changed plans and got some exercise in with a workout video and got cleaned up and went to Thornton to do some top golf!

It was fun doing top golf. Plus the smoke smell was not as bad in Thornton. So we enjoyed some tasty food and some golf and then went to the outlets for some shopping before heading home.

So we spent Thursday night and Friday having fun away from the kiddos and then Saturday we got up and got some things cleaned up and then drove back to Colorado Springs to spend the rest of Conference weekend with Tyrel and Vandy and the kiddos!

Our Sunday morning Conference set up. haha The kids all ready with their conference bingo sheets. Of course we had monkey bread. It is just not pictured! It was a fun little weekend with lots of ice cream and yummy food and laughs. The kids had a lot of fun staying with their cousins but I think they were happy to see us. The first thing Emmett said when we arrived was, "You guys took too long!" haha He didn't come give me a hug or get excited to see us. He just said that we took too long and had an upset face. Must have been the lack of sleep being around his cousins. haha The best part about the weekend is that we were able to celebrate Brandon's birthday with a short get away! So even though we didn't go to Cali we did have a fun weekend and it was more fun than we would have had driving from Cali to Colorado in moving trucks! haha We were thankful that Tyrel and Vandy were able to watch our kids for us. Plus it is always fun to hang out with them! So all in all it was a great weekend!!
