On June 15th Emmett turned 8. He was so excited to turn 8 and to be able to get baptized. So we started off the morning like we always do. Coloring a birthday crown and going to get donuts.
Emmett was so happy to get a massive donut on his birthday. Brandon came with us but had to leave shortly after we ordered donuts. He is trying to take the birthday mornings off so he can come for donut runs with us. That way he can be a part of the morning fun before heading off to work.
Then since Emmett was king for the day we went home and got scooter stuff and went to the scooter park for like 2 hours.
Emmett was determined that we would be at the scooter park for 2 hours. Kayden does not enjoy the scooter park as much yet so I walked him over to the park to play while we let the other boys do all the tricks they wanted to. By the time we had been there for 2 hours I was super ready to leave and so was Kayden. Emmett was not really ready to leave but when I told him we had been there for the time frame he wanted to be he was ok with leaving.
Then we stopped at sonic and got drinks. Emmett wanted a grape slushee with nerds in it (YUCK). I was not super excited to let him have even more sugar but it was his birthday. I tried talking him out of it but he was set. So I let him have it. He said it was super yummy but ended up not drinking much and decided after a while that he really didn't like it that much. I tried to tell him but what does Mom know.
When we were at home I let the boys play on the switch and let Emmett have longer than the allotted 30 minutes. The other boys were very jealous at that.
Then as soon as Brandon got home we opened presents and then rode to Dominos for dinner.
We got Emmett a new bike! I had Ethan help write down clues to take Emmett on a scavenger hunt for his bike. He was not expecting to get a bike that is for sure. When he opened up the shed he was very confused. haha We had to say it out loud so that he realized that the bike that was in there was his gift. haha
Getting pretty stormy looking.
Thankfully, Dominos has a few tables out now. So we were able to eat inside before taking off to go back home.
Emmett and his sweet bike!!
The last thing he wanted to do was to ride bikes to the park and play at the park for a little bit. We were not sure how that was going to work out because the storm was coming in quick. We did it anyways and ended up getting rained on for quite a while.
Kayden was not loving it. The temperature dropped really fast and with the rain and the wind it was pretty chilly out.
Emmett on the other hand was having a blast. He and Ethan were going on the swings while it poured rain and running around.
They were soaked! We waited for a break in the storm to make our way back home. We stared getting rained on again while we road home. Thankfully, it didn't rain too hard and it stopped again.
Time for presents.
Since Emmett was now 8 he got his own scriptures. He was pretty excited to finally have his own nice set of scriptures. He also got a few other things. Then it was time for cake.
He wanted lemon cake this year.
He has been so excited to turn 8 so that he can get baptized. Plus being king for the day is always the best. Pretty sure he got to do all that he wanted to on his birthday. Which is lucky for him. Wyatt and Kayden wont get that on their birthdays because theirs are during school.
Anyways, Emmett is such a sour patch kid. He can truly be so sweet and yet so sour. He has a very tender heart and is a really hard worker. He does not have too many friends at this point. There are not many kids his age that he really clicks with. Hopefully that will change soon. He is still stuck in this middle child phase. He wants to fit in with the older boys and tries to be funny but the older boys just think its annoying. So I feel bad that that has not changed yet. He is still a hard kid too though. He does not like to listen. He is blatantly disobedient. Which drives me and Brandon crazy. When he is being super helpful or sweet I try to point it out so he realizes how nice it is when he listens and is kind. We tell him a lot that he needs to control his inner monster and that he needs to be obedient so that he doesn't get in trouble all the time. Im sure it will click at some point. For now it is just a struggle with him. He does play well with Kayden some times and if I ask him to help because I need a good helper he is all for it and will work hard. I am so excited for him to get baptized and to take that step and it is cute how excited he is. We are so glad he is part of our family. We sure do love him and are excited to continue to watch him grow and mature.
Happy Birthday Emmett!!!
