Our Move to Fort Collins Colorado

On May 31 we were officially moving out!! Pretty crazy to think that we had already been in our house for 4 years and now we were leaving. Moving on to bigger and better things. It was kind of sad to leave  since we had been there for so long. Lots of memories in our house. It was our very first home together, we had 2 children while living in the house and Brandon had started and finished Dental School. I never really had time to get all sentimental about leaving our house because of how crazy life had become with all of our travels and moving in general. Its not like we were just moving down the street and could just leave during the day sometime and get to our new destination within a short period of time. We were moving states away. So we wanted to get an early start to the day so that we could make it at least half way to our destination not too late. So we got up and got to work with packing up our beds and all of the last minute details. We tried cleaning a little bit and filled up probably 3 more trash bags of stuff to throw away before we were ready to leave. We left just as the gas and water people were coming to shut off stuff. I think we finally left the house at 10. Brandon drove the moving truck and my mom and I with the kids were in our SUV. Brandon took off in the truck while I drove down to drop off our Dish box to the UPS store to have the stuff shipped back (talk about last minute). We were supposed to have gotten the box the beginning of the week and it never came. So we called again and they said that it would come on Thursday. Thankfully it did or we would have had to take the stuff with us and shipped it back when we got to Colorado. Anyways so we dropped that off, grabbed some soda from Sonic and headed out. We were driving half way on Friday and staying in Albuquerque and driving the rest of the way Saturday. We were making good time and the kids were doing great until we hit 30 miles from Albuquerque and hit bumper to bumper traffic. We ended up being in traffic for a little more than an hour. It was AWFUL... both of the kids were so ready to get out. Wyatt was ready for a bottle and we had no way of getting one. Luckily my mom was with me and sat in the back feeding Wyatt and Ethan whatever she could until we got to our hotel and could get out. What made it worse was that Ethan had just fallen asleep before we hit traffic and as soon as we hit it of coarse he woke up and was a complete grumpy mess. It was a very joyous occasion. Thank goodness for my mom and her Ipad. Made life so much better. We got into Albuquerque after 7 checked into our hotel and went to get dinner at Applebees which was in the same parking lot as the hotel. Ethan was a butt while we were there but who can blame him. He had been in a car for the last 8-10 hours and was tired and hungry. Here are some pictures of the first part of our move.

We did not want to open up the truck since it was jam packed full and hard to get open. So Wyatt got the tub to sleep in. Luckily he was not crawling yet or that would have been interesting. haha

Saturday morning we got up and had our free continental breakfast where we ran into some of our friends from AZ that were driving through New Mexico to get to their destinations as well. So that was fun seeing them again. Anyways, then we packed up our room and headed out to finish our trip. My mom saved a spider man toy that she and my dad had gotten for Ethan to give to him for the last half of the drive. He was SOO Excited when she gave it to him. He LOVES Spider man!!
We made good time again and hit a little bit of traffic when we got into Denver but not as bad as what we had hit the day before. The plan was to make it to Thornton where they have a Costco and have pizza for dinner and grab some chicken salad to put in our cooler for another day. However, we got there 5 minutes too late and Costco was closed. Which was not good because the boys had had it with the car and wanted to be out for a little bit. But, since it was closed we had to jump back in the car and drive somewhere else to grab dinner before we got to our hotel room for the night.

This didn't work out as well as we thought it would! haha

Thank goodness for portable DVD players.

My mom gave Wyatt a taste of her see's candy sucker when he was really having a hard time with being stuck in his car seat. The bad part was that once he tasted it he really really wanted it and got mad when my mom took it away! haha

So Close!

The boys were seriously elated when we got them out of the car to go to Costco. Little did we know that it was already closed!!

So we finally arrived to the hotel room that we would be in for the next 5 days of our lives. It was nice to finally be out of the car but it is not fun to be in a hotel room for 5 days when you are not really on vacation or in a tropical place. Brandon shared his bed with Ethan. My mom and I were on the other bed and Wyatt was in his pack n play next to the beds. Thankfully we did have a microwave and fridge. So the first night we got in everyone went down to the pool while I ran to the grocery store. I picked up stuff for lunches and dinner for the next day since it was Sunday and we figured it would nice to not have to eat out again. The dinner turned out pretty good for a make shift dinner. We had rotisserie chicken with steamed veggies and some fruit. Not too shabby for being in a hotel room. We went to church that afternoon and we left to go try and find a park while Brandon tried to take a nap since he was now sick. Then we went to our Town Home to unload the truck. Anyways, for the next couple of days we did a lot of driving around and going to parks and trying to get the boys down for good naps. Brandon was basically out of commission for 2 days from his sickness which was no fun. While he was sick my mom ended up sleeping on the hideaway bed, I slept with Ethan and Brandon slept alone. It was seriously a crazy few days. We were so glad when Thursday came and we were finally able to move into our Town Home.

Poor Ethan fell asleep playing a game on my moms Ipad because he was so tired from not getting naps.

The many funny faces of Wyatt! haha

Shopping at Home Depot!

Some of the face Wyatt makes when he wants what you are eating and he is not getting anything! haha

Where we will be living for the next year. Our Three bedroom two bath Town Home with Attacked garage! Pretty nice actually!

SPIDER MAN!

Getting down with our bad selves!!

Then we put stars on the ceiling in Ethans new bedroom!

He was soo excited to be putting up stars in his new room!

Smelling the roses (or flowers :-) )

Playing on GG's Ipad!

Ethan was very concerned that Spider Man did not have a buckle. So we told him to hold him tight and be his buckle. So he did! :-)

My mom was holding Ethans head up while he slept on our way to the airport to drop her off. So nice of GG! :-)

After we dropped my mom off at the airport Ethan was sad. He kept asking where GG went. He was also very concerned that "GG had forgot her claw" (hair clip).

It was a good a thing GG was not in the car with us on the way back because we bought a TV and our kids barely fit in the car with it in the car! haha Probably the most spur of the moment purchase we have boughten in the close to 5 years that we have been married! haha It was time for an upgrade though and it was a great price!
We were so grateful for the help my mom gave us with our move. She was such a big help and the kids and I loved having her around and miss her already.  It was sad to see her leave but it was time for her to go since my dad was missing her something awful.

So our life in Colorado had began. Pretty crazy to think that this is where we will be for probably the rest of our lives! Ethan has loved it so far because he has been able to ride his scooter pretty much everyday. We have enjoyed being outside more and enjoying the nice weather. It has also been nice to get the kids back on a little better schedule. So here are some more pictures to enjoy!!

Well that was our move! We are excited for our new adventure her in Fort Collins Colorado and are looking forward to what life will bring! :-)
