Some Halloween Fun!

We had a lot going on for Halloween this year. When we got home from Nebraska we still had quite a bit to do to get our costumes ready for the ward party. So that week we spent getting our costumes all ready and finished. We also carved our pumpkins and had 2 school parties to go to.

Brandon read "Little Boo" to all of the boys. They look so cute all sitting there listening to this story. The book is about a little seed that wants to scare everyone and he grows into a pumpkin and then is made into a jacko lantern and then finally gets to be scary. haha

Here are the boys drawings for what they wanted their pumpkins to look like. haha Ethan's is the top picture and Wyatt's is the bottom one.

This year even Emmett got to dig his hands into the pumpkin guts. Ethan was all about it this year. He was digging into that pumpkin like a champ. Wyatt on the other hand did not want to do it and kept complaining. He finally decided to do it and he got most of it cleaned out. Emmett was not into it at first but after a while he was grabbing big handfuls.

haha I love that Emmett is copying his pumpkin face.

They turned out really good. I cut out Emmett's and Brandon cut out Wyatt's and Ethan's. The boys all loved how their pumpkins turned out.

That week before Halloween we had a really warm day. It was in the 70's and so I decided to take Wyatt and Emmett to the park to play before preschool.

We headed out to the mammoth park. It was so nice outside I didn't want to leave. I was wishing Wyatt didn't have preschool so we could have hung out at the park all day long.

One evening that week Brandon and I set to work on our boys Halloween costumes. We had a vest to make for Wyatt and a shirt to make for Ethan. I got the sewing machine out and made Wyatt's vest and Brandon did the stitch work on Ethan's shirt. He is the master stitcher being a dentist and all.

Ethan made this glad and was very proud of himself! It was pretty cute.

This was Wyatt's from preschool. A tree made from his hand. I love these little crafts where it captures how little their hands are.

Then the Friday morning of our Ward party Brandon didn't have anything going on and we decided to go try out, "The Famous Toaster" a new place that opened up. We had a 25% off coupon on an entree and decided to try the place out.

It was not worth the money. The tables were tiny and the food was meteocre. I was not happy with spending as much money on that breakfast as we did. If I am going to spend a lot of money on breakfast it has to be to die for. Needless to say we wont be going there again. I would much rather go to snooze!

That afternoon we finally got to put together all of the costumes and get the kids into character. They turned out so GREAT!!!

After Ethan got home and we got everyone all done up and Brandon cut up a wig we had and tried super gluing the hair to the bald cap we had bought (gluing himself in the process haha) he took a picture of them. He told them to make their faces and this is what they did. I LOVE IT!!!!! They all look so amazing. Emmett's face just kills me! haha SO FUNNY!!

After getting myself ready we headed out to go show off our costumes to the ward. haha

I think we nailed it!! We look so great! Another fun and successful year!

Wyatt was constantly in character. haha Anytime someone came up to him and asked him who he was he would say his line, "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!" It was so funny and so amazing!! He nailed that costume for sure. He would even add a little accent to his voice when saying his line. It was so great!

The rest of the night was spent with the kids doing carnival games and then trunk or treating.

They had a blast!! I wanted to get a picture of the boys trunk or treating but it was too dark.

Love my awesome family!!

We then headed home and it was shower time and bed time.

We had put so much coloring in Emmett's hair that it took a couple washes to get it out. We had bough temporary brunette hair color and put that in Emmett's hair as well as some black gel stuff. It was a mess to clean out. haha

I had to take a picture of this. Ethan made it at Ty and Vandy's and wanted us to bring it home with us. If you can't tell he created a pop up football diorama. He was pretty proud of it and he did a great job.

Anyways, the next morning after our ward party we headed to get donuts with the Ortiz family.

Jason Ortiz wanted us to all go in full costumes but we realized it would take too long to get all of us ready in the morning before going for donuts so we decided against it. They however, came in all their mullet glory! haha Then they had Emmett and Brandon try on a mullet. haha So nasty!!!

Tuesday was Halloween and since we tell the boys that they can be whatever they want to be for Halloween as long as they do what we want for the ward Halloween party the boys got to pick what they wanted to be. Wyatt wanted to still be Inigo Montoya, Emmett wanted to be batman and Ethan couldn't make up his mind. He kept telling us he wanted to be a pumpkin scare crow and then he changed his mind towards being the bad guy off of the Despicable me 3 movie. We told him the night before Halloween that he had waited to long to decide so it was not going to be possible to be the bad guy off of Despicable me 3. He was so mad that he couldn't be that guy. We told him that we would have had to have a month to prepare for that so we could find stuff to make a costume for that. So that night I headed out to get some ice cream for Brandon and I after the kids went to bed and then got some face paint so we could paint Ethan's face in the morning before school. We gave him two options, he could be a scary pumpkin or jack the pumpkin king.

He decided on Jack skelington the pumpkin king.

It turned out pretty cool. I was pretty proud of myself since I don't do face paint EVER! haha More importantly Ethan loved how he looked! Then after getting his face all painted up we headed to his school for the school costume parade. It was 27 degrees outside! It was FREEZING!!!! I couldn't believe they were still having the parade since the parade was taking place outside. There were lots of crying little girls who were in dresses without coats on and super cold.

We were all freezing standing out there waiting for the kids to come around and to see Ethan.

Ethan always acts so bashful when he does these parades. haha Its like he tries not to look at us. haha
After the parade Brandon left with Wyatt and Emmett and I stuck around to help out at Ethan's class party.

It was fun to stay and help out in his class and to see him with all of his classmates.

When the party was over Brandon came and picked me up and then it was lunch time and then time for me to take Wyatt to preschool. He was so excited to go to preschool in his costume and show everyone how cool he was. The thing he didn't like was how much the hair kept falling into his face.haha It probably wouldn't have been as bad but the wig was a straight hair wig and I spent hours curling it. So it was kind of all over the place. haha I also got to go back a little later and be there for Wyatt's Halloween party.

They performed a couple of songs for the parents which was super cute. Wyatt got pretty shy with all the moms phones out recording their kids so he didn't get into the dancing like he normally does. haha

After 2 songs it was time for their workshops.

I loved being there for Wyatt's first school party. Its so fun to watch him with his friends and doing his work and having fun.

This is one of the things he made at his party. He was very proud of it! :-)

Soon after Wyatt's preschool Ethan got home and I touched up his makeup and Brandon and I put some makeup on and then we headed to some offices that do trick or treating inside their massive building.

It was nice to be trick or treating inside. I can see how this would be really nice if it was snowing or really cold outside. Then we could do that and just call it good. However, that was not the case this year. We made our rounds at the office and then headed home and the kids could hardly wait to get out to do some more trick or treating.

Our sad Jack o lanterns. haha They looked like old men jack o lanterns by Halloween. haha

We got home from trick or treating inside and then about an hour later we headed out into the neighborhood to do a little bit of trick or treating before calling it a night.

The kids were just loving trick or treating. Emmett was doing such a good job at saying, "Trick or Treat" Then he would say thank you and then say, "another one" or "next one" haha It was so funny. It didn't take long for his bucket to get too heavy and for him to have me carry it. He did not want to go to the houses that had scary stuff up and he would make this face and say, "SCARY!" then we would go off to the next house that wasn't scary. haha Ethan and Wyatt are not fans of the scary houses either and didn't care to go trick or treating to those ones either. This year was a little different with trick or treating. As soon as we got to our street Ethan and Wyatt took off and hit houses just the 2 of them while I stayed with Emmett. That was a little weird but I guess when it is a safe neighborhood that is how it can work. I never did that when I was little!

We finally made it back home to thaw out and the boys got to dump out their candy and see what they had gotten. Then Brandon made them a deal. They could pick 15 candies and then he would buy the rest off them for 10 bucks. Ethan and Wyatt were ALL about that. Wyatt grabbed 15 candies as fast as he could and then said he was done and thats all he wanted. Brandon and I intervened a little bit because he picked all of this bite sized candies to keep. So we helped him out a little bit and then took what candy they were not keeping and kept it to donate to the Stake activity that was that upcoming Saturday.
Once there candy was picked all three of the boys headed outside to pass out candy while I made dinner. They looked so cute sitting out there waiting to pass out candy to kids that came up. Emmett would grab some candy and go off down the side walk to give the candy to people. haha The candy was soon gone and it was time for baths, dinner and bed. We didn't have dinner until after trick or treating and I don't know that I would do that again. It made dinner super late and we felt like we were rushing the kids to eat so they could get to bed since Ethan still had school the next day! However, it all worked out and it turned out to be a fun Halloween!!
