On March 12 we took off in the morning around 6 to head to Utah. We were going to stay with Ashley for the night so we could break up the drive a little bit and be able to see Ashley and little Harvey. Matt was out of town having surgery on his other foot so we were not going to see him. We were excited to see Ashley and Harvey. So we got up a little early to take off and beat the snow storm that was coming into the area later that day. The first part of the time was pretty scary. As soon as we got into Wyoming the roads were slick. All of a sudden cars were slowing down and we could tell the car was sliding a little bit. luckily we were able to slow down as we hit the black ice and we didn't slide off the road. My parents were following behind us so I texted my mom to warn them to go slower. They don't have an all wheel drive car yet and that can be even scarier. The next 2 hours were off and on icy and we had to go pretty slow for quite a while. Then we hit super thick fog which was not fun with all the snow and icy spots. It was a pretty crazy morning of driving. We were glad that we left when we did. It would have been even worse if it was a white out from snow and all the ice. Thankfully, we finally made it past the storm clouds and the roads got much better. I took the opportunity to use the storm as a lesson for the kids. As soon as we got past the clouds and fog the sun peaked through the clouds. I brought up how the sun represents the son of God which is Jesus Christ and darkness represents Satan. I asked them how they felt when they were in the dark clouds versus when the sun came out and it cleared up. It was the perfect learning moment and I think the kids really got it. I felt accomplished for the morning. haha After that it was smooth sailing and we made it to Utah in time to grab some lunch and meet Weston and Hayley and their kids at a park for a little bit before heading to Ashleys.
