Gaylord of the Rockies

This year my parents decided to pay for us to go to The Gaylord as our Christmas present. They said they were not going to get the kids a bunch of nick nack toys that they would end up throwing away a few months after. Instead they wanted to make memories with us. So we picked a date and Gigi got it booked. On December 9th we were off to the Gaylord for some fun! We had heard amazing things about this place so we were pretty excited. It was a fun time but way more gimiky than we had hoped for. Everything was way more expensive than we anticipated. They had ice skating (20 bucks per person) and lame sled hill (19 bucks per person) and weird snow ball throwing thing which was also an outrageous expense. Thankfully the swimming was included and they had hot tubs. haha So we spent time at the pool and then did the ice sculpture part. It was pretty fun!

My parents bought us all matching sweatshirts. The theme for the ice sculptures was Charlie Brown Christmas. So it was funny that they found these as Sams Club.

Poor Emmett got snagged by a metal hanger on his eye. He was running behind me and tried to squeeze by and I didn't see him and stepped backwards. Well that pushed him right into one of those metal things that hold stuff on shelves. Poor kid was not happy about it. Then a few minutes later I went to wrap my arm around him and my elbow clocked him in the same eye again. haha It was not a good start for him. Thankfully Papa was there to consol him.
We ended up buying some cinnamon rolls and decided to take them back to the room to microwave them. The kids said that they had seen a microwave in the room. So we headed back up to our room only to find out that the so called microwave was actually a safe. haha Silly boys!! So we spent that time walking back to the room in hopes of having nice warm cinnamon rolls and didn't get to have them. haha So we snacked and then got our swim suits on to go swimming.

I did not care to get in all the way. The water was not very warm and I do not like being cold with my back still not being all better. It makes me shiver and then that hurts my back. So I opted to take some pictures and then get in the hot tub.

Wyatt did not last very long. Someone accidentally caught him in the mouth and his mouth was hurting. So he just wanted to go back to the room and watch something. We tried to convince him to stay because they were going to play "Elf" on the big screen in there. We also took part in a trivia game which I took second on thanks to Brandons help. I ended up winning a rubber ducky and a Gaylord visor. Pretty cool!

Then both these boys were done. haha We wrapped them in towels and bought some over priced hot dogs, chicken wrap and nuggets for a light dinner. Which the kids ended up complaining about. haha Always a good time when they complain about over priced food. So we told them to suck it up butter cup and eat it. haha

Tried to watch some of "Elf" since I had been wanting to watch it anyways. Sadly, the sound system was terrible so you really couldn't hear what was going on. We let the kids have some dip n dots and then called it a night and headed upstairs to get everyone cleaned up and ready for bed.
My mom and I then went on a search for some Hot Chocolate and by the time we got back all the kids were in bed and my Dad had taken a sleeping pill so he was basically out. So Brandon, me and my Mom played a quick came of cards and then went to bed as well.

The next day was Ice sculpture day!

Getting all bundled up to go walk around a very cold environment.

Oh ya and dealing with Tantrums is always a must for hotel stays.

Emmett and Wyatt were fighting over something ridiculous as always. Pretty sure they didn't get enough sleep! Went to bed way too late and Emmett woke up way too early. Oh ya, did I forget to mention that our rooms alarm clock went off at 5 in the morning?? Ya so that woke up Emmett and he never really went back to sleep after that! It was AWESOME!!!

Before going to our event for the day we left to go get some Breakfast at a diner just down the road.

It was really tasty actually! We were all full after that and ready to have some fun. Did I mention Papa and Gigi payed for breakfast too?? Ya they are crazy!

When we got back to the hotel we figured we would kill some time by doing some other activities. We ended up not doing any of the extra activities when we saw how expensive they all were.

So the kids had fun doing balancing challenges for as long as they could. haha Glad they are easily entertained!

Time for some Charlie Brown!
The line the day before was non existent. The line when we decided to go was like an hour long! It was crazy!! We were not thrilled about waiting in line for some ice. Yet that was the biggest reason we came and we were already signed up to go. So we stuck it out and waited for way too long. It felt like we were are Disney Land except there was not thrilling ride to look forward to. haha

It was really cool how they did all the ice sculptures. Pretty amazing that they can do things like that. The kids like the ice slides and after a little bit they were all getting too cold. Kayden was just whining and not wanting anything to do with it after a little bit. It sure felt nice to get out of there and feel some warmer air by the time we were done.

To end the adventure Gigi bought the kids a souvenir each. Kayden was so tired and grumpy that all he wanted was to eat something. So Brandon took him to get some chips and we picked out a stuffed snoopy for him. The boys were all super happy with their gifts from Gigi.

Over all it was a fun experience. Will we do it again? No! It was a fun thing to try out once. If every thing else there was not so stinking expensive then maybe. Except all their activities were so hokey it was kind of crazy! So it was a good thing to check off the list. Now we can say we did it and we don't have to do it again. However, it was a good time spending time as a family with Papa and Gigi and the kids always enjoy that! So over all it was a win! Thanks Papa and Gigi for more fun memories!!
