Closing out Spring Break

Saturday morning we were supposed to get up at 5 and leave. That didn't happen! Emmett ended up sleeping longer than expected and Brandon turned his alarm off and then fell back to sleep. We got up an hour later than planned and then tried to pack up the rest of our stuff as fast as possible. By the time we were leaving everyone else was awake. So our goodbyes the night before were not even needed! haha So we headed out for our long day of driving. We were doing most of our driving that Saturday and then only about 4 hours on Sunday. We planned to stop and stay in Grand Junction so we wouldn't have as long of a drive our second day of driving. It worked out fine but since we took off later than planned and hit a few spots of traffic because of construction we didn't get to the hotel until a lot later than we were hoping. We finally arrived at the hotel around 7. So we got checked in and then Brandon ordered some food from applebees and then when he went to go pick up dinner I got the boys ready to go swimming and headed down to the pool. Emmett was so excited to be out of the car that while I was getting the boys ready he was army crawling everywhere. He was going crazy scooting as fast as he could everywhere he could go. It was so funny to watch him. We then headed down to the swimming pool and Brandon met us there with our food. The food was metiocre at best. It filled the void and that is all that we can expect from applebees anymore I guess. So we swam for a little bit and then headed back to the room to get cleaned up and go to bed. The boys were pretty exhausted and once they relaxed they fell asleep. Ethan has been into sleeping on as many pillows as he can. Even in his bed at home he rarely sleeps laying down. It is more like he is sitting than laying because of everything that he sleeps on top of. At home he will sleep with stuffed animals on top of his pillow and maybe even a blanket on his pillow. I don't quite get it but, I guess it is comfy to him! haha Sunday more was Easter Sunday, and we still have a 4 to 4 and a half hour drive ahead of us. He wanted to take off farely early so that we could beat all of the ski traffic. We figured we would get up at 7 go eat at the continental breakfast really quick and then take off. Come to find out that morning that it was not a continental breakfast. It was an actual restaurant that we had to pay for. We were pretty upset. We had booked the hotel specifically for the reason of the free breakfast. So it was not a great start to the morning. We decided to eat there anyways, boy was it a mistake. The food was awful. I didn't think that you could mess up eggs or french toast but somehow they managed to. The food was not good, the syrup was cold and it was expensive. We would have been better off eating the cereal we had in the car and anything else we had in the car for that matter. We probably would have been better off getting something from a gas station than eating at the hotel restaurant. Lets just say it was not a good way to start our morning.

This picture makes me laugh because we were all in the hot tub and Wyatt just kept sitting in the cold pool by himself because he didn't want to come sit close to this older guy in the hot tub. He wanted to sit somewhere farther away and there just wasn't any room. So he went back over and sat down on the step in the pool by himself. It had been a long day of driving and we were all tired and he for some reason was scared of this guy I guess. He did finally join us in the hot tub but it took a while! haha

Luckily, we had friends at home that were putting together an Easter potluck and we were invited. So we wouldn't be eating canned soup or frozen pizza for Easter dinner which was a plus. Thankfully the roads were clear and we didn't hit any traffic until we reached Denver and then we hit traffic because there were like 3 car accidents. After all was sad and done we made it home safely and in good timing. We were able to unpack the car and get cleaned up a little bit before heading over to the neighborhood clubhouse for dinner. It was a long day and we were glad when the boys were in bed and we could relax for a minute before going to bed as well. All in all if was a great vacation. It was nice to finally go on a family vacation again.
