Changing things up!

As soon as we got home from Denver we decided it would be a good idea to get our fireplace done. Brandon didn't think it would take us very long so we got started. It took us way longer than we thought to get just the top front of the fireplace done because we had to find all the pieces that would fit together. It took us about 6 hours that Thursday. We got started at about 4 and didn't finish until midnight. We got the stone layed and Brandon was going to just do a little bit of grout work but poured too much mortar so we had to finish it up. It was a late night and we were so done and ready for bed.

The top sure did look great. So we were excited to start the bottom and sides the next day and be all done.

The next morning we got some donuts and then let the boys help lay some stone on the bottom part of the fireplace.

They did a good job helping out. I love seeing them working wit their Daddy. It is super cute to watch.

It was so nice to have the fireplace finished. It took about 10 hours total and the next part of the job was so find a paint for the room. At first we had a paint called "Blue bird sky" and we thought we liked it. We painted a little section and thought it looked nice. So we painted our wall where we have our picture collage. When it dried we realized it was way more blue than we wanted it to be. So then we were on the hunt for a different color. We were looking for a grey color. So I headed out to Sherwin Williams and came back with 4 different paint swatches. We decided to get a sample of one color that was "Agreeable Gray" but I lightened it up. We painted the same wall we had painted the blue color and thought we may like it. Then we decided we didn't like it very much because it just looked like our beige walls. So then we tried a sample of one called, "  Grey" We ligtened it up and painted the wall again. This time we liked the color so we bought a gallon. Then we set to work and painted the whole room. We even let the boys help out.

They were given the job of painting under the window. They ripped through it super fast and we had to wipe paint off of the windowsill and Brandon had to wipe paint off of the outlets. They were not being very careful. They begged us to let them help paint and then they went so fast that they were making messes and got done in under 10 minutes.

The Finished product!
We really like it. I especially like that we have something in our house that is not just brown! haha
